Requirements

To obtain a Visitor Visa for Canada, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Valid Passport: Applicants must have a valid passport that does not expire before their planned departure from Canada.

  2. Purpose of Visit: You must provide a clear and honest explanation of the purpose of your visit, whether it’s for tourism, visiting family or friends, attending a business meeting, or participating in a short-term course.

  3. Financial Proof: You need to demonstrate that you have enough funds to cover your stay in Canada, including accommodation, transportation, and other expenses.

  4. Ties to Home Country: You must show strong ties to your home country, such as employment, property, family, or other commitments, to prove your intention to return after your visit.

  5. Invitation Letter (if applicable): If you are visiting family or friends, you may need an invitation letter from your Canadian host detailing your relationship and the purpose of your visit.

  6. Travel Itinerary: You should provide a detailed travel itinerary, including flight bookings, accommodation reservations, and a planned schedule of activities during your stay.

  7. Proof of Return: A confirmed return ticket or evidence of onward travel may be required to demonstrate your intention to leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay.

  8. Immigration Medical Examination (IME): Depending on your country of residence and the length of your stay, you may need to undergo a medical examination by a panel physician.

  9. No Criminal Convictions: Applicants must not have any criminal convictions or pose a security risk to Canada.

It’s important to note that meeting these requirements does not guarantee a Visitor Visa, as the final decision rests with the Canadian immigration authorities. Additionally, some applicants may be exempt from the Visitor Visa requirement based on their nationality, so it’s essential to check if you qualify for visa-exempt entry or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) instead.
